Do you feel dryness on your face? Do you notice flaky or itchy skin? Sometimes it even stings and your skin looks lifeless and gray? In winter days, dry skin types can additionally become dehydrated. Although dry skin already naturally lacks sebum, it is not spared from loss of moisture either, and in that case, it is time to urgently restore the skin barrier with a little additional proper care. We offer useful tips below.
CARE OF DRY SKIN DURING WINTER
1. REDUCE THE TIME YOU SPEND IN THE SHOWER
Especially during colder days, it's hard to resist a long and hot shower, but it doesn't really suit your skin. During the winter, it is necessary to shorten the showering time and use lukewarm or colder water, since hot water further dries the skin, increasing the loss of natural fat from its surface. Therefore, take a shower with lukewarm water for no longer than 10 minutes, immediately wipe with a towel and then apply a rich nourishing cream or lotion for body care.
2. USE SPF PRODUCTS ALL YEAR ROUND
The fact that you wear several layers of clothing during the winter does not exclude the need for daily protection from the sun. The sun's rays are a risk even on colder days, although most of us relax the most and forget about the danger that lurks from above. Damage caused by the sun's rays is accompanied by drying of the skin, so be sure to apply a suitable SPF product with a high level of protection (SPF 30 or more) every day.
3. CLEANSE THE SKIN GENTLY
As with showering, it is best to use lukewarm water for washing. In addition, carefully choose the products you use for cleaning, exfoliating and toning your face, as well as for removing make-up, and especially avoid those that contain alcohol or sulfates, as they could further dry out your skin.
4. EXFOLIATE YOUR FACE REGULARLY
Even the best cream will not be able to help you if you do not remove the layer of dead cells that just "sit" on the surface of the skin and hinder the beneficial effect of the product itself. Due to the dry air and cold climate, the natural exfoliation process is slowed down, which leads to skin tightening and sensitivity. For this reason, use gentle exfoliation 2-3 times a week for better absorption of serums and creams and an irresistible feeling of soft skin.
5. HYDRATE YOURSELF!
It's a good idea to drink more water or get it through your diet, but don't expect that alone to help with skin care and hydration. Although drinking a sufficient daily amount of water can help dehydrated skin, it is not so noticeable and the ultimate solution. For visible results on the skin itself, use a suitable moisturizing cream or serum.

6. REGULATE THE MOISTURE AMOUNT IN YOUR HOME
Heaters that work 0-24 hours and the cold outside air are a bad combination for your skin because despite the comfortable temperature, the heating dries out the air in the rooms we stay in, and this leaves its mark on our skin. Investing in a good humidifier is definitely worth it because quality indoor air is necessary for maintaining balanced and healthy skin, and it also has a beneficial effect on the general condition of our body and even enables a more restful sleep.
7. MAKE SLIGHT CHANGES IN YOUR CARE ROUTINE
If you usually use retinol and AHA acids, we advise you to leave them aside for the time being until you bring your skin to its natural balance. Instead, reach for an oil as an extra layer of care after your moisturizer.
